Reality, dreams, imaginings and utopias beyond the limits of the possible are dialectically related to each other in Haack’s art and, together with her delight in the sensual materiality of painterly details, form the basis for the equally fascinating and disturbingly emotional effect of her œuvre. “I paint fictitious, suggestive portraits. I have always had the vision of a pictorial language that, although it works with the means of realism, nevertheless does not depict reality, but forms a kind of parallel track to it,” Simone Haack described her pictorial concept in an interview. Paradoxes, metamorphoses, and transformations can be found in her pictorial constructions. And costuming, masking, veiling, or playing into the absurd are also recurring elements in her works.
The exhibition is open during regular opening times (Tue-Fri 4pm-7pm and Sat 11am-5pm) and by appointment by phone. It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance. The proof of a negative test result is also not required anymore.
